"Avery Brothers Sign Company has been in Sioux City since 1935. It was started by my uncles Milt and Noel Avery, after learning the sign business in New York City during the Great Depression. They did wall signs in those days, before getting into the billboard business in the 1950’s. My dad, Chuck, joined his brothers at that time and ended up managing Avery Brothers for twenty years. I learned the business from him, as well as from Mel Rustwick, the best sign artist of his time."
